The majority are women and more than one-third live alone. Some spend over 40% of their income on housing expenditures, 22% are defined as “housing poor.” The Rebuilding Together fills a desperate need in San Antonio.

WHAT WE DO: One day each year, we gather volunteers from all walks of life, ages and ethnic backgrounds to join forces.   Armed with truckloads of materials these volunteers paint, repair and renovate homes and shelters.  The goal of Rebuilding Together is to encourage volunteering at the local level and to stimulate increased local activity to aid the low-income, elderly and disabled homeowner. Since 1994 over 500 homes have received free home repairs with the help of almost 13,500 community volunteers.

ALL REPAIRS ARE DONE TOTALLY FREE OF CHARGE TO THE HOMEOWNER.
